Coaching INC Events

1st International Coaching Day
Steve Scott opens the proceedings

South-West based coaching network celebrates the 1st International Coaching Day on 14th January 2009.

Coaching INC, a Devon and Cornwall based independent network of coaches, will be holding an events in Plymouth on 14th January 2009 to inaugurate the 1st International Coaching Day. This new annual event was the brainchild and initiative of the group and its purpose is to collectively and collaboratively raise the profile, awareness and benefits of coaching to both individuals and businesses alike.

Steve Scott, Chairman of Coaching INC, says “We decided that it would be a great idea to dispel some of the myths and mysteries surrounding coaching and to promote the amazing successes that can be achieved using coaching and what better way to do this by creating an International Coaching Day. We hope that other independent coaching networks, coaching businesses, organisations and bodies, both nationally and internationally, will join with us to celebrate and develop this into a truly worldwide annual event”.

David Parlby, CEO of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will be giving the opening address. The keynote speaker is Robert Rendle, a prominent UK and overseas coach, who has previously worked with the Coaching Academy, Paul Mckenna, the oil industry and is currently working with Deepak Chopra on a coaching software package. His speech, titled "What is Coaching" will explain the different methods of coaching and the benefits that coaching can bring to both individuals and businesses.

This software package is perfect for those who gain their business knowledge and ideas from publications like books or magazines or online resources such as Motley Fool. Even though there is nothing wrong with these resources, the coaching software may serve as a buffer.

Coaching INC, which was founded in Plymouth in January 2008, will be asking individuals and businesses on the day:

?span style="font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'">   “Do you want 2009 to be your best and most successful year ever?”
?span style="font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'">   “Do you want to make a quantum leap in your life and in your business?”

Don’t make resolutions, set goals and achieve them.

The event is also designed to showcase the breadth, depth and quality of coaching resources available to individuals and businesses in the area in a manner that would otherwise be unachievable through traditional marketing methods.

The Follow Up:

1st International Coaching Day

On Wednesday 14th January, Coaching INC, a local network of independent coaches, held the inaugural International Coaching Day at the Copthorne Hotel in Plymouth.

The event was very well supported, with over 50 people attending, including businesses, individuals, other coaches and coach students.
The event was opened by David Parlby, CEO of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who spoke about the importance of coaching to both individuals and businesses, particularly during these challenging times. He described how coaching, in the sporting arena, is accepted as normal practice and that successful sportspersons and teams usually have behind them motivated and dedicated coaches who are able to make that extra difference between success and failure. He stressed that for individuals and organisations to overcome barriers to success then they must seriously consider the use of coaching to facilitate progress that will be sustainable and realistic.

Robert Rendle, a well known and respected coach, both nationally and internationally and who lives in Plymouth, gave the keynote speech entitled ‘What is Coaching?’ Robert was instrumental in the set up and growth of the Coaching Academy, the largest coach training organisation in Europe. He is currently working with Deepak Chopra, a bestselling author and presenter of physics and philosophy, developing an interactive coaching tool using the latest technology. He ably demonstrated the process of coaching, some simple, yet incredibly powerful, coaching tools and techniques, and the benefits clients would accrue from the coaching experience.

Robert then joined a panel of coaches from Coaching INC to take questions from the audience on matters relating to coaching. This was highly interactive and stimulated some very interesting discussions on a variety of subjects.

The evening ended with a coaching clinic where members of the audience were invited to meet individually with members of Coaching INC to discuss any matters specific to themselves.

Overall, the evening was rated a huge success by the attendees and members of Coaching INC alike.
